It's too hot!!!

Sorry everyone, 'I'll update you all tomorrow' never happened!! The days are just sliding into one and the time is passing so quickly at the minute. Here we go though, another post.

I know everyone will moan at me for complaining about the weather, but it's just too hot. I love it when it's warm and hot and when I can get my summer clothes out, but not when it's so hot that you cannot be bothered to do anything like today has been.

However, I have got some stuff done today, not scrapbooking but nonetheless creative. Here's a sneak peek.

My birthday and school prom are only 3 days away!! Yippee. I'm trying not to get excited as I'm very good at expecting something to be so good and then it being a let down, but I'm getting more excited as the days go by. I finished off my prom outfit a few days ago, I now have all of my accessories and feel ready to go out and enjoy it. Here's all of my accessories.

They are very big heels for me, the biggest I've had before are about half the height and double the base size, so I've been wearing them around home to get used to them. I'm doing OK at the minute, haven't fallen over yet.

Most of my friends have finished their exams now, a couple have one tomorrow but that's it, so we'll be able to meet up more often now. I went out earlier this week to do a photo shoot of some of my great friends who were willing to put up with me and the camera. I ended up with some results I was very proud of, and have been enjoying playing around with them in Photoshop a bit.

Not much more to add I don't think. I shall be back to post again this week as it looks set to be exciting and busy! :D

Book binder

Just a very quick note tonight.

I'm really enjoying this free life with no work and nothing in particular to do!!

Mum and I went shopping on monday, it was so lovely to spend the day with her on her birthday. I've been to our local RSPB reserve today volunteering with the group mum always helps with, it was such good fun, although rather hot.

Here's the more interesting thing, the scrapbooking I've managed to get done!

I have created a chipboard binder (using this tutorial) to hold all of my memories of upper school. I have many bits and pieces which I need top work into the book, so far I have put in my autograph book from year 11 and attached my tie in a bag to the binding. Here are the pictures:

I'm finished!!!!!! YAY

EXAMS ARE OVER!!!! I'M DONE, NO MORE REVISION FOR AGES!!

I'm sure you can tell I'm rather happy!! Had my last exam this afternoon which was Citizenship, I feel it went OK but I'm pretty sure I didn't achieve my predicted grade even though I spent this morning solidly revising. Never mind, it was a half GCSE and I've felt pleased with all my other exams. Plus I don't need a Citizenship GCSE to prove I'm a good Citizen, I'm sure all the amazing citizens you know don't have an exam in it!! Anyway, I'm finished. I've already begun planning my next few weeks with mum, making the most of the time we can have doing the stuff we enjoy without having to worry about James.

What with me finishing compulsory education, it being Father's Day on Sunday and my mums birthday on Monday we are going out for a meal tomorrow night. We haven't been out for a meal for ages so I cannot wait.

I've done a scrapbook page over the past few days, with a bit each day to break up the revision. I'm really pleased with it. Here it is:

I have used parts of my Quirky Kits What's the story kit. I saw this paper and knew exactly what I wanted to do on it, I even staged the photo specifically for the paper, first time I've ever done that!! I tend to be using more embellishments at the minute than I used to. I've used hidden tags for the journalling on this page. Here's a few close ups.

I hope you like it, and hopefully there will be a lot more pages to show now I will have more time to scrap :D

I think I'm obsessed!!!

I love Dandelions so much, I think I'm obsessed with them!!!

They are so intricate and delicate, they're nature's work at it's best! On a dog walk yesterday we noticed some larger dandelions heads which were even more intricately formed than the typical ones we get in our garden, they just had to be photographed. I didn't have my camera with me (why is it that you never have your camera with you when you really want to photograph something?!!) so I had to transport them home, being ever so careful that James didn't blow them as he was determined to see how many blows it would take to clear the head. From now on, the camera really will go everywhere with me! These are the pics I managed to get. I set up a little studio with a black board to enhance the contrast (you see what I mean, obsessed!!). I was practising varying the depth of field and was quite pleased with some of the results I managed to get.

Beautiful Blogger

I have received this award from Winnie, thanks so much!!

I now have to tell you 10 things about myself, so here goes:

1. I have 5 cousins, 4 boys and 1 girl, 2 live in Australia and 3 are around this country at universities and various jobs.
2. I love chocolate!!
3. My favourite colour is blue :)
4. I aspire to go to either Cambridge, Oxford or Warwick university once I've completed sixth form, although I haven't a clue which degree I'd like to do.
5. I used to do horse-riding and I love horses, however stopped a year ago and suprisingly haven't missed it, probably because scrapbooking has taken over!!
6. My favourite season is Autumn, I love all the gorgeous colours.
7. I love nature and animals, I do a bit of bird-watching and enjoy walking the dog in the countryside, and of course taking pics.
8. Although I love nature, I am not a fan of spiders, small ones are OK but tarantulas, Arghhh. I don't like wasps either, but I'm not sure many people do!!
9. I don't have a favourite scrapbook stash manufacturer but my favourite shop is Capture the Magic in Soham, the shops my idea of heaven!
10. I have tried all sorts of crafts, jewellery making, glass painting, quilling, cake decorating, paper making just to name a few!

A page at last

Finally I have a scrapbook page to show you.

This is the page I said I was going to send into Scrapbook Inspirations Ideas Book but because I was so late to make it into the second issue (which is out today), I saved it, however it doesn't fit into any of the next issues sections. So here it is.

I am so pleased with this page, I love it. I always love the pages I see that have lots of embellishments on them but I tend to not use many on a page. However, because I knew I was planning to send this into the magazine I made a special effort to use lots of embellishments and I'm so glad I did. I have decided to set myself a challenge to make a page for each issue using the criteria, which will make me use some different themes and try out different techniques.

I used a new technique to me on this page. I received some printed tape in a kit the other day and didn't know how to use it, however Emma (who's blog is called ' Sraps of my Mind') gave me the great idea to use it to cover chipboard letters. Here's a close up.

You cannot see from this photo but the lines where the tape is butted up together is obvious, but it looks fine and actually adds to the hand-decorated essence of the page. Thanks Emma, this tip was brilliant and worked perfectly with my page.

I've got another 2 exams out of the way now, my first Maths yesterday and my first English today. They both went well. Thank you for everyone's good luck wishes, they seem to be helping, I've felt happy with all my exams so far. Only 5 more to go and 10 days until I will have lots more time for scrapbooking, so more pages will be coming soon I promise.

Half term fun

Sorry it's been so long since I last posted, I've been enjoying the half term break. Unfortunately I can't say I've got enough revision done as I probably should have, but I've been enjoying the break. I've got so much to tell and say.

Firstly, unfortunately I have no scrapbook pages to show, the page I did hope to do never got made, but I'll get round to it at some point. Lots of photos to show though as I have been concentrating on my photography as it is easier to do quickly unlike scrapbooking.

So what have I been up to. Well mainly enjoying the lovely weather we've had (I say as it is now thundering, lightning and chucking rain at the windows!!), I hope you have been too. In the holidays we tend to spend a large amount of time at my Nan and Grandad's house as James loves to see them and their garden is lovely in the sun. I've spent the second half of the week living in my shorts, trying to get my legs a little nicer than pure white!! Some sunny garden pics:

I did manage however to go out and get my prom dress. I am planning to do a mini book all about my school prom so we snapped as many photos of the shopping trip as we could. It was great to go out just me and mum for some girly shopping. I tried on over 10 different dresses, finally finding the one after at least 3 hours shopping. I love the one we decided on, luckily it was both mum's favourite and mine so it was a dead winner. It's so comfy and elegant, just the style I was looking for, and even though the price was more than we had planned, we both felt it was a very successful shopping trip. Here it is, I hope you like it, it's not the best photo.
Today we have all been to a Summer Fun Day set up especially for children with disabilities and their families. At first we had slight doubts, but we all loved it and were so glad we went. James loved it and so did I. Even though it wasn't set up by a club who commonly (in fact they may have never) deal with those sort of children, they were so friendly and understanding. The activities were aimed specifically at the children's style, with simple games, and not too many things to do. James' favourite (well actually there were many), the stocks. Putting dad in the stocks and throwing wet sponges at him was so great, James was laughing so much and it was a great photo opportunity.
Then when it came to James' turn I had great delight in lobbing sponges at him. I have an awful aim but a lucky handful got him, much to his amusement.

I love taking photos in macro, especially of flowers and their intricate centres. This is a photo I took today of one of my nans amazing poppies.

I have exams again this week, Maths and English. I am confident about these subjects but shall be busy revising for Geography and Citizenship the following week. I have 12 days, 7 exams, left and then it's my summer holidays!! :D
