Art's over!!!

At last! My art is all handed in, all of my art and graphic art GCSE's are finished and I no longer have to spend my weekend's doing art unless I want to. It's such a great feeling.

I inked up my garden shed board that I showed you a few days ago, then printed from it to get the excess ink off and rubbed the ink into the card to make it look old. It really looks like it belongs in a garden shed now! The picture isn't great as I took it on my phone but just thought I'd show you how it ended up.

My GCSE's are quickly approaching, I've just been trying to plan my revision and I can't believe how little time I have left, only 18 days until my first exam. Arrgh!! No doubt I'll have little time to scrapbook over the next few weeks, but I'll try, I'll need a break at some point after all.

Just a note

Just a quick note to say thanks for all of the lovely comments you've been leaving on here, they're really appreciated and it's great to hear from you all.

I haven't had chance to do anything creative recently, I have been busy revising and doing a few finishing touches to my art ready to finally hand it all in tomorrow. Then that will be art completely over and I can concentrate on my other subjects. Only 2 weeks untill my exams start!!

Creative weekend

I have had a creative weekend. I spent the majority of my weekend creating a piece of art for my graphic art GCSE. I am doing a typography unit and decided to create a board with all words related to a Garden Shed. My friends helped me to come up with some great words, but my finger really hurt after cutting each letter out from cardboard with what I later realised was a blunt craft knife!! Silly me :P Anyway, it's great to have it finished and I am celebrating the fact that I will no longer have to spend my whole weekend doing art coursework as the deadline for the course is Friday. Although, unfortunately, my weekend's will now be spent revising for other subjects, but it'll be worth it I suppose.

I managed to squeeze some scrapbooking into my weekend too. :) I brought this blank calendar from the Paper Mill Shop for last year but never got around to decorating it to use as a calendar. So I decided to keep a basic diary last year and then I would scrapbook it. Here is the calendar all blank and waiting to be decorated.

I've only got January done so far. Here it is.

I was really pleased with this LO. I followed a sketch from the pencil lines book which I've never done before. I'm pleased I did, I really like how it has ended up. As you can see there are some gaps left next to the days, I'm not the best at keeping diaries! Just another 11 to try and find time to do!

At last..

..a bit of time to scrap!

I started a mini book all about my brother a few weeks ago and have since been doing a page of it every so often. Tonight I have had a chance to finish off a page I started.

The mini book is an envelope mini inspired by a video on you tube. The link to the tutorial is here if you'd like it.

I am making this mini book with the view to giving it to him when I've finished. This is how much I've got so far. I haven't yet decorated the cover, I think I'll leave that to the end.

This is the page I have just finished. Spent most of the evening trying to find a suitable '&' sign. You can never find them when you need them! I'm planning to do some hidden journalling inside the pocket, but haven't yet had chance to, that's for another day.

Off to have a bounce on the trampoline with James (brother) now. :)

Art GCSE

I thought I'd share with you some of the art work I have been doing for my GCSE. A few weeks ago I had my 10 hour exam in which we have to create a piece of artwork based on a topic we had been previously given. Prior to the exam we have 6 weeks to prepare, filling a whole sketchbook with ideas and work. My exam piece was about the journey through pregnancy. It may seem like a weird topic, but I wanted to do something very different to everyone else and it fitted perfectly with one of the original starting points. I used multiple media's within the piece. Here is a picture of my final exam piece. I hope you like it.

We have also done many coursework units throughout the course, of which 2 will be entered as our final pieces. Below is an image of one of the pieces I am submitting, it is a banner style collage based on a summer book about my holiday to Yorkshire a few years ago.

So my art GCSE is done now, I have my 2 coursework units ready to submit and my exam has been and gone. However, I haven't yet mentioned that I took at additional art GCSE based on printmaking, I have taken my exam for that also, so am currently working on finishing off coursework which is due next week. Then my art will be over with!! :)

Welcome, let me introduce myself....

Welcome. Well I'm sure you have read my profile piece, but here is a little more if you are interested.

I'm currently in year 11 at school and working towards my GCSE's. On top of the compulsory subjects i am taking geography, art, additional maths and additional science. They have proved very demanding, especially art, with most of my past 2 summer holidays being taken over by summer art projects and visiting galleries. Thankfully my art GCSE is coming to a finish, having already taken my 10 hour exam a few weeks ago and now i am just adding the finishing touches to my coursework.

It's the last day of my Easter holidays today, I'm back to school tomorrow for what is promised to be a very busy term. I have tried to make time for my creative hobbies over the holidays, but once again my art coursework has put a stop to this. I love scrapbooking. I'm currently starting a mini book about my brother with the idea of giving it to him when I'm finished.

When I was 13 I sent in a layout to Scrapbook Inspirations magazine and an article was written about me and another teenage scrapper. It was published in the November 2007 issue.

Above is an image of the page I sent in. My pages have progressed since then and I have made many since that I have been very pleased with. Below is a photo of one of my favourite layouts I have created (the photo I've taken isn't brilliant).

As I said in my profile, I also enjoy making and decorating cakes. I have created many cakes for my family and friends, including flowers for an anniversary cake, birthday cakes and Easter cakes. My favourite cake I have created was for my uncle's birthday. Later in the year my uncle and aunt were going to climb the three peaks in Yorkshire to raise money for charity and were busy training over his birthday, so I decorated a cake with this in mind. He loved it.
